Miro Kadoić was born in Zagreb. He graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Music in 1986. He received several awards and prizes at various classical music competitions (i.e. First Federal Prize in the Clarinet Category in 1980; etc.) as well as the scholarship of the Musical Youth for Young Jazz Talents in 1982, etc. It the 1980s he started playing with blues bands (Podroom Blues Band) and cooperating with pop-rock musicians (Massimo Savić, Parni Valjak, Voodoobuddha, etc.). At the same time he started playing in jazz combos. He visited New York on several occasions where he studied under the mentorship of Reggie Workman and Blue Lou Marini (Blues Brothers Band) . For several years he was a soloist and the first saxophone of the Radio Zagreb Big Band. At the same time he started leading jazz combos (Kadoić-Križić Ansamble, Miro Kadoić Quartet). From 1993 to 2007 he was a member of RTV Slovenia Big Band. As a soloist of the mentioned orchestras he played with many distinguished musicians (Johnny Griffin, Clark Terry, Erni Wilkins, N.H.O. Pedersen, Herb Pomeroy, Silvia Droste, Jerry Van Royen, Boško Petrović, Maria Schneider, David Murray, Bill Holman, etc). He is an active musician on both Slovenian and Croatian music scenes where he works with eminent musicians like Primož Grašić, Matthias Daneck, Ratko Divjak, Kruno Levačić, Saša Nestorović, Davor Križić and others. Miro Kadoić received the Status Award of the Croatian Association of Musicians for the best Croatian alt saxophonist in 1997. At the beginning of the 1990s, he was a leader of the quintet which mainly played his compositions, some of which were inspired by the Balkan folk music and other localities like Japan, the Arabian Peninsula and Africa. A result of that cooperation was presented on the CD "Dry" which was published by Megaton Records in 1995. He also played on many other CDs some of which are "50 Years of RTV Slovenia Big Band" (1994/1995), Peppino Principe - "Jazz Accordion" (1994), RTV Slovenia Big Band - "Zlatna šezdeseta" (1997), Ratko Divjak - "Caravan" (1998), Ten Directions - “Vitro” (2000), Gabi Novak -"Pjesma je moj život" (2002), Boško Petrović - "Round Midnight" (2002), Boilers All Stars - 'That's It' (2003), "Boško Petrović with friends" (2004, Emil Spruk - "Without Return" (2005), “Monster in the Garden” (2008), “Free point” (2011). Miro Kadoić is the founder and leader of the jazz quintet TEN DIRECTIONS and MIROKADO QUARTET which performs original compositions as well as modern compositions of the world-famous authors like Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, etc. A particular attention is given to the sound and arrangements while classical and exotic scales, unusual instrumentalization and rhythmic patters are being combined with elements of modern jazz. In year 2008 he received price for the best jazz composition for his arangment and composition “Monster in the Garden” He is also active as composer for film and video.
